Falls Church City Comment Box: #655. Buxtonites concerned about ice; salt, not so much

Location (if any):buxton road -- near 230 and 300 buxton, next to rain garden
Details:just want to make sure that any sand/salt trucks treat the part of buxton road just below the rain garden -- black ice forms there as the water crosses the street. icy tonight

Details:Thank you for your submission. Public Works staff advises that this area has been treated.

FCO Comment:  The rain garden is intended to prevent harmful/toxic run off from entering the Chesapeake Bay.  The City's ton of salt will thus directly bypass that garden and go directly into the eco-system.  Sort of like mainlining death to the various forms of aquatic life in Tripps Run, at the base of the hill.
